Welcome to the Work and Society Research Network

Introduction

The work and society research network is a developing international community of academics, policy-makers, "think tanks", businesses and employee organisations who are all interested in the material realities of work in the political economy and are committed to leading edge, sociologically informed research which is reflective, offers critical insight and, ultimately, has use value.

The website features leading thinkers talking about their views, links to associates' host organisations and research activities, along with valuable resources under three key areas - themes, theories and thinkers - in addition to regular news items of interest to the work and society research network.

The aim of the network is to act as a readily accessible forum for the dissemination and discussion of research based on three main areas:

  • Key Themes - what are the contemporary debates and issues in the study of work and society?
  • Key Thinkers - which contemporary thinkers substantially contribute to the way we see the world?
  • Key Theories - what theoretical, conceptual and methodological developments help us understand work and society?

The network is hosted and supported by Strathclyde University Business School with a growing number of associates based across the UK and around the globe.
